There were 5 children that came over and of the 5 only one changed the name to Halsted. That was Christian L. Hatlestad. He changed his name to Halsted some tme in the 1860's and the best I have found out it was for business purposes. Hauge, "An eminent and pious layman who achieved a blessed reformation in the Norwegian Church". He held private school in his house and tought his grandson Ole. J. and other boy's as well, religion, writing, and arithmetic. In the Norwegian census of 1801 he, his wife and 4 children lived on the Farm Hatlestad"
