Born Sept 5, 1922, in Fairview, Okla., he was the son of Claude G. Halstead and Nettie Hendrix Halstead. He married Marillyn Lowe Halstead on Oct. 10, 1947. He lived in Danville for the past 21 years and was retired from a 37 year career with U.S. Gypsum. He was of the Christian faith and served with the U.S.Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fairview, Okla. and a charter member of VA-NCPGS Society. Survivors, in addition to his wife of the residence, include one daughter, Claudiia H. Buccos of Fonda, NY; one son Mark E. Halstead of Olsmar, Fla.; one brother, Francis O. Halstead of Fairview, Okla.; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from the graveside at Danville Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tom Hulette."
