They are the children of James C. Paris and Josephine (Preston) Paris, born in Davis and Van Buren County, Iowa. James C. Paris was born in 1855 in Missouri and Josephine was born in 1857 or 1859 in Missouri. She is the daughter of Isaiah Preston and Martha W. Halstead. Martha Halstead's brother was Timothy Preston and he was a doctor in Savannah, Davis County, Iowa and he delivered my grandfather Harley A. Paris on June 3, 1883 near Bloomfield, Iowa. I found this family living in the 1900 Van Buren County census. James Paris and the Preston family were living near each other in the 1880 Davis County, Wyacondah Twp., Iowa census. Right next door to James was a Nancy Paris, which I suspect may have been his mother. The Preston's lived 4 doors away with Josephine still living at home.
