[m] " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In recording and researching the section of Hester Halstead Pier's Ms 2000, Section II "Unknown Halsteads", I discovered that on page thirty she lists J.L. and Mary Jane [ ] Halstead as J.L. Halstead, b. 1809 NY and Mary J. b. 1810, NY ...with six children [1st 2 born OH]: L. M. 1831 [f]; M.C. 1833 [f]; G. W. 1834 [m]; L. J. 1837 [m]; A. B. 1839 [f]; L.M. 1846 [m]. 2nd clue "1850 Rock,WI" who turn out to be Samuel I. Linkletter and Mary Jane Maoporsnor [Mc FERSON] Halstead. Next the quandary regarding initials/dates that don't match up. We have the same number of children, so why don't the Initials match the names we have? a. The information Hester used for the family could be mistaken; or b. The census enumerator goofed; or c. poor penmanship/reading of the census records d. in that Mary Jane seems to have two middle names, and the double middle names seem to hold true in Isaac and Caroline's family...maybe Samuel and Mary gave their kids each a 2nd middle name. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ upon receipt of a copy of Samuel Linkletter Halstead's Funeral Card, I reconfirmed the d.o.b. with LaDonna, who has researched this family thoroughly, she advises that the 1809 d.o.b. is in error.
