    • dob March 24 1814 (est) in Penn, dod Jan 28 1878 Kinderhook,ill; I have a copy of the Kinderhook cemetery records that states Silas Halstead died on 28 Jan1878 age 64 years 10 months and 4 days , the way I figure it from this info is he would of been born march 24 1814. I got this from the county seat in berry Ill. back in 1986 when I took my last family tree vacation - source Everett Halstead DATE CALC = 24 Mar 1813

Everett"; Gary the original info I found on Silas came form 1850 census of Ill township 4s 5w . and 1860 Book219 page 26 house 101 . this was in Boise Id and is part of the Salt Lake library. My Silas also his first Five children were Born in Penn. If I am wrong Ill gladley change my record,s Everett

      Hi there.... not sure what happened either..... guess i was trying to subscribe... hubby is a descendant of john halstead m. rachel knapp and they had 1 son (that we know of named alanson.. who married phoebe wells....       Also, you say the records show "I have a copy of the Kinderhook cemetery records that states Silas Halstead died on 28 Jan1878 age 64 years 10 months and 4 days," - - - using Family Origins date calculator and entering this information along with a 28 Jan 1878 death date, I get a 24 Mar 1813 dob - - - this may warrant a little further investigation. Kinderhook, Pike Ill. and I have a sheet from the county records shwoing his dod as Jan 28 1878 and that he lived for64 years 10 months and 4 days this is on record in Berry pike co, Ill if I can be of any help please let me know..     • "Hi, I am Everett or Jess (I am not sure which name he used) sister and this a copy of the file that I have made of the descendents of Silas. Most of our information is from Obituaries and miscellanous information picked up as we went along. We, as beginning, genealogists did not add information as to where we found our information. Now we are wiser. Hope this is the information you wanted. Dorothy Stecker"

      Information from Great-Great grandson Ray Halstead Halstead (Holsted) lived in Germany, then something happened so they moved to Holland, then to USA. Silas Holsted had a farm in Illinois, big enough to keep 8 boys busy. One time while plowing the boys ran the plow into a stump and broke it so they would not have to plow any more that day. Sials fixed the plow and told the boys, "Don't ever run into another stump on purpose again.
      Silas and his wife walked from Pennsylvania to Illinois after they were married.
      My Brother, Everett, said Silas owned 2000 acres (Bought in 1864 for $1600.00) in Kinderhook, Illinois. Silas bought a 1/4 section in 1854 for $1600.00 cash. There were several real estate deals he made, but we have no paperwork at this time.
