  Obituary, Virginian Pilot 12/9/00 Mrs. Sarah A. Halstead, wife of Rev. Samuel J. Halstead, departed this live at the home of her husband, No. 719 Church street, at 11:55 o'clock Friday night, after an illness of only one week, in the 63rd year of ear age. The deceased was a promin member of the Baptist church in this city, having been connected with that denomination for thirty years. She was a woman of pure life and exalted Christian character and her departure from among the living will create a painful void among a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She is survived by seven children, all married, most of whom reside in Norfolk. The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Funerals: Mrs. Sarah A. Halstead The funeral of Mrs. Sarah A. Halstead, wife of Rev. S.J. Halstead, whose death has been previously noted in these columns, was held from the residence, No. 719 Church Street, Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. J.P. Barrett, D.D., of the Christian Memorial Temple, assisted by Rev. Dr. J.J. Taylor, of the Freemason Street Baptist Church. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
