     William was also known as William HARTLEY. He Whilst he was known as William HALSTEAD, and appears that way on the census returns and his death, he was born the illegitimate son of Nancy HARTLEY in 1838 and took the name of HALSTEAD when his mother married.
The New GRO indexes released in November 2016 also show that Wlliam was in fact a HARTLEY by birth.
