     Sarah HALSTEAD was born in 1825 at Rochdale, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Joseph HALSTEAD and Sarah (?). In the census of 6 June 1841 at Great George Street, Castleton, Lancashire, she was listed as a Rover, aged 15 born in county, the assumed daughter of Joseph HALSTEAD.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 6 George Street, Castleton, Lancashire, she was listed as single, a Reeler, aged 27 born Rochdale, the daughter of Joseph HALSTEAD.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 at 51 Milnrow Road, Castleton, Lancashire, she was listed as single, a Cotton Factory Operative, aged 37 born Rochdale, the daughter of Joseph HALSTEAD.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 at 10 East Street, Wardleworth, Lancashire, she was listed as single, Housekeeper, aged 47 born Rochdale, the sister-in-law of William MILLER.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 at 8 Wet Rake, Castleton, Lancashire, she was listed as single, a Domestic Servant, aged 56 born Rochdale, a servant of Thomas HOLT.5

     William HALSTEAD was born in 1845 at Rochdale, Lancashire.1 He was the son of Isaac HALSTEAD and Susannah SHUELL. In the census of 30 March 1851 at Back of Great George Street, Rochdale, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 5 born Rochdale, the son of Isaac HALSTEAD.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 at 7 Pit Street, Castleton, Lancashire, he was listed as single, an Apprentice Iron Moulder, aged 15 born Rochdale, the son of Isaac HALSTEAD.3
William married Elizabeth Fitton WHITTAKER, daughter of Thomas Fitton WHITAKER and Hannah (?), on 28 January 1866 at St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire.4
In the census of 2 April 1871 at 4 Water Street, Castleton, Lancashire, William was listed as aged 26 born Rochdale, the Head of Household; an Iron Moulder, livng with his wife Eizabeth, daughter Hannah, mother-in-law Hannah F WHITAKER, brother-in-law George WHITAKER.5
In the census of 3 April 1881 at 5 William Street, Castleton, Lancashire, William was listed as aged 36 born Rochdale, the Head of Household; an Iron Moulder, living with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Hannah and Amelia E.6
His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1884 in the Whitworth registration district.7
William married Selena HOLT in 1885 at St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire.8
In the census of 5 April 1891 at 17 Bradshaw Street, Wardleworth, Lancashire, William was listed as the Head of Household. In the census of 2 April 1911 at Lodging House, 44/46 Lord Street, Rochdale, Lancashire, he was listed as married, an Iron Moulder, aged 65 born ROchdale, a Boarder of John BRENNAN.9
William's death was registered in 1915 in the Rochdale registration district.10

Elizabeth married William HALSTEAD, son of Isaac HALSTEAD and Susannah SHUELL, on 28 January 1866 at St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire.2
