     Richard HALSTEAD was born on 18 February 1829 at Haslingden, Lancashire. He was the son of James HALSTEAD and Nancy (?). In the census of 6 June 1841 at Higher Lane, Haslingden, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 12 born in county, the assumed son of James HALSTEAD.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Haslingden, Lancashire, he was listed as single, a Bookkeeper, aged 22 born Haslingden, the son of James HALSTEAD.2
Richard married Susannah ANDERTON on 28 February 1852 at St James, Haslingden, Lancashire.3
