In the census of 2 April 1871 at Cottage, Hawkwell, Essex, he was listed as aged 9 born Chelmsford, the son of William HALSTED.2 In the census of 3 April 1881 at Hawkwell, Essex, he was listed as single, an unemployed Barman, aged 19 born Chelmsford, the son of William HALSTED.3
Faithful married Elizabeth SPELLER, daughter of John SPELLER and Martha SHELLEY, in 1886. according to the 1911 census however no signs of a marriage can be found.
In the census of 5 April 1891 at Leslie Cottage, Milton Road, Prittlewell, Essex, Faithful was listed as aged 28 born Chelmsford, the Head of Household; Livery Stable Man, living with his wife Eliza.4

In the census of 2 April 1911 at 6 Clifton Mews, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Faithful was listed as aged 50 born Essex, the Head of Household; a Horse Clipper, living with his wife Elizabeth and children Maud, Frank, Ethel and Florris (married 25 years - 6 children - 5 libing).6
