Research Note: The marriage certificate states that John's father is Edward HALSTEAD, a Mason. However no trace can be found of such a family. In the census of 7 April 1861 at Nelson Street, Bingley, Yorkshire, he was listed as married, a Worsted Power Weaver, aged 24 born Bingley, the son-in-law of Mary WALBANK.3
John's death was registered in 1868 in the Keighley registration district.4

In the census of 5 April 1891 at 15 Prince Street, Wortley, Yorkshire, he was listed as aged 9 born Pontefract, the son of Harriet HARRIS.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 at Baxtergate, Pontefract, Yorkshire, he was listed as a Bricklayers Apprentice, aged 19 born Pontefract, the son of Harriet FURBER.3 In the census of 2 April 1911 at Southgate, Pontefract, Yorkshire, he was listed as single, a Colliery Labourer, aged 29 born Pontefract, a Boarder of James HOWARD.4
Levi married Florence NICKLIN in 1918 in the Pontefract registration district.5
