     Arthur HALSTEAD was born in 1889 at Bacup, Lancashire.1 He was the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD and Sarah Jane WARBURTON. In the census of 5 April 1891 at 19 Greens Lane, Spotland, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 1 born Bacup, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 7 Back Greens Lane, Bacup, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 11 born Stacksteads, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.3 In the census of 2 April 1911 at 17 Back Acre, Mill Road, Stacksteads, Lancashire, he was listed as single, a Cloth Looker and Presser, aged 21 born Stacksteads, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.4
Arthur died on 11 August 1916 at Ypres. He is commemorated on the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. He was awarded the British and Victory medals.5,6

Research Note: Private ARTHUR HALSTEAD, Back Spring Terrace, Stacksteads, has fallen victim to gas poisoning.7 His estate was given Letters of Administration on 11 May 1917 at London. The estate was valued at £162 15s 0d.6

In the census of 5 April 1891 at 19 Greens Lane, Spotland, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 1 born Bacup, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 7 Back Greens Lane, Bacup, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 11 born Stacksteads, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.3 In the census of 2 April 1911 at 17 Back Acre, Mill Road, Stacksteads, Lancashire, he was listed as single, a Slipper Hand, aged 21 born Stacksteads, the son of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD.4
Albert married Eliza JAMES in 1916 at Bethel Chapel, Waterfoot, Lancashire.5 Albert HALSTEAD was the executor of Alfred Rawson HALSTEAD's estate granted on 11 May 1923 at Lancaster, Lancashire; £2,223 14s 7d.6
His wife, Eliza, died in 1934 at Haslingden, Lancashire.7 Albert HALSTEAD appeared on the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 in the household of John TAYLOR and Clara TAYLOR at 177 Newchurch Road, Bacup, Lancashire. He was a widower, a Heel Attacher at Slipper Works, born 16 July 1889.
Albert married Elizabeth Ellen BREARLEY on 11 October 1941 at Baptist School Chapel, Acre Fell, Stacksteads, Bacup, Lancashire. He was a Slipper Heel Attacher aged 51, a widower residing at 77 Newchurch Road, Stacksteads. His father was listed as Alfred (deceased) HALSTEAD, a Foreman Cotton Twister. Married in the Baptist School Chapel according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Baptists, by Certificate. The marriage was witnessed by Wilfred BARBER, Mary A BREARLEY and James BREARLEY.8,9
Albert's death was registered in 1965 in the Haslingden registration district.10

Priscilla ASHWORTH was born in 1852 at Newchurch, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Ann ASHWORTH. In the census of 2 April 1871 at Blackwood, Spotland, Lancashire, she was listed as single, a Cotton Operative, aged 19 born Newchurch, the step daughter of James HALSTEAD.2
Priscilla married Robert ORMEROD on 18 June 1872 at St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire. She was aged 20, a spinster residing in Brandwood. Her father was listed as John ASHWORTH, a Weaver. After Banns. The marriage was witnessed by Richard WHITWORTH and Betty WHITWORTH.3,4
In the census of 3 April 1881 at Back Blackwood Road, Spotland, Lancashire, she was listed as aged 29 born Dean, the wife of Robert ORMEROD (a Stone Quarryman, living with his wife Priscilla.)5

John married Susannah HALSTEAD, daughter of John HALSTEAD and Ann ATKINSON, on 13 September 1875 at New Wesleyan Chapel, Blackburn Road, Haslingden, Lancashire. He was a Loom Overlooker aged 43, a bachelor residing in Longholme near Rawtenstall. His father was listed as John GREENWOOD (deceased), a Cotton Weaver. According to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Wesleyan Methodists by Licence. The marriage was witnessed by James DIXON and Elizabeth BINNS.3,4

In the census of 5 April 1891 at 10 Ormerod Street, Lower Booths, Lancashire, John was listed as aegd 57 born Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, the Head of Household; a Tackler in Cotton Mill, living with his wife Susannah, sister-in-law Elizabeth HALSTEAD.6
In the census of 31 March 1901 at 10 Ormerod Street, Lower Booths, Lancashire, John was listed as aged 67 born Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, the Head of Household; a Retired Cotton Tackler, living with his wife Susannah, sister-in-law Elizabeth HALSTEAD.7
John died on 1 April 1906 at 10 Ormerod Street, Rawtenstall, Lancashire.8,9 His estate was probated on 15 May 1906 at Lancaster, Lancashire. The estate was valued at £250 0s 0d.9

In the census of 30 March 1851 at 10 Back Rodney Street, Burnley, Lancashire, she was listed as aged 9 born Burnley, the daughter of Peter HALSTEAD.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 at 10 Rodney Court, Burnley, Lancashire, she was listed as single, a Power Loom Cotton Weaver, aged 18 born Burnley, the daughter of Peter HALSTEAD.4
Susanna married William Henry COWELL on 25 April 1867 at St James, Burnley, Lancashire. She was a Spinner aged 23, a spinster residing in Curzon Street East. Her father was listed as Peter HALSTEAD, a Labourer. According to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church, by Banns. The marriage was witnessed by Thomas HALSTEAD and Sarah Jane BRAYSHAW.5,1
