In the census of 31 March 1901 at Steep Causeway, Brierfield, Lancashire, Halstead was listed as aged 28 born Burnley, the Head of Household; a Cotton Warp Dresser, living with his wife Hephzibah E, son Fred, daughters Sarah E, Florence E, Ada and Doris.4

In the census of 30 March 1851 at 54 Drummond Street, St Pancras, London, she was listed as aged 8 born St Pancras, the daughter of William HALSTEAD.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 at 54 Drummond Street, St Pancras, London, she was listed as single, aged 18 born St Pancras, the daughter of William HALSTEAD.3 Elizabeth Mary Ann HALSTED witnessed the marriage of Henry John HALSTED and Catherine Frances KIRBY on 19 July 1863 at the Parish Church, St Pancras, London.4,5,6

Research Note: in the 1871 census Elizabeth and Edward are shown as the daughter and son of Martha CLARKE who is only 23. Their father and mother were both already dead anyway. There is clealy something wrong with the family but it is unclear as to exactly what without site of the original schedules that do not exist. In the census of 2 April 1871 at 84 Drummond Street, St Pancras, London, she was listed as aged 28 born Pancras, the daughter of Martha CLARKE.7 In the census of 5 April 1891 at Haggerston Road, Shoreditch, Middlesex, she was listed as single, aged 45 born Shoreditch, a General Domestic servant of Abraham JACOBS.8

In the census of 30 March 1851 at 58 Ossulston Street, St Pancras, London, Susannah was listed as a widow, aged 70 born St Clements, the Head of Household; a Stationer and Tobacconist, living with her son John and grandchildren Fredk James and Mary Ann HALSTEAD, daughter Mary Ann HOLSKAMP with her husband Willm August and children William August and Emily SUsannah HOLSKAMP.2
