My excitement is brimful and running over. Timothy 1752 is one of my grandfathers, with a lot of greats attached. I thought no one was particularly interested in this line, and I have made no progress with it for quite some time.
One of the major sticking points is the parents and wife of Timothy 1752. His father married his mother, who is unknown, in 1751, and then married again to Elizabeth Teed in 1763. Timothy's wife, Keziah Teed, has been assumed in the past to have been his step-mother's sister, but she may have been a step-cousin if Elizabeth had a previous marriage with children. If you have any information in this area I will be delighted.
I am sending you a gedcom insert containing all of the information I have on this line of Halsteads; Timothy 1752 and descendants. It should include all of my notes and sources. However, it was my older brother who did the genealogic research, and he did not always feed me everything he knew, particularly as to all of his resources. He is not a computer person. He wanted the information entered in a computer so some twenty plus years
ago he began giving it to me in bits and pieces. I think you will find it is very reliable, although on occasion, rarely indeed, I have found where his information was in error. These occurrences are only where some relative gave him some mis-information. He was meticulous in his approach and never allowed himself to enter anything on speculation.
As you will see, I have Timothy's brother, Peter, born in abt 1786 rather than 1790, and that has always worried me, as his sibling, Samuel, was born in 1786. Your date of 1790 would be a much better fit.
Unfortunately, my brother did not choose to follow all of the Halstead lines once they diverged from our particular line. As his work was all done with pen or pencil on paper, and as he filling cabinets and cartons containing all of his genealogic research, I cannot fault him for that. Too bad he was not willing to learn how to use a computer. I go to the absolute opposite. In my "Halstead and Collateral Families" database I have in excess of 15,000
entries, and that is but one of the many databases I have on my various family lines.
I will be anxiously awaiting the results of your research, and I hope you never cease in your good work. Ken

Mark, You have prepared an excellent article. You and others in the group have certainly been digging and researching a lot longer than I have.
I have one question that maybe you can help me with. I have not seen item 17, the Pier, Hester Halstead manuscript, and so far it is the first documented research that I have heard of that links Peter Halstead as the son of Timothy Halstead b. 19 Sep 1751 (or 1752). If you have a copy of the manuscript, could you please send me some of the wording regarding Peter so that and I can pass it on to other researchers of that line? I shall also pursue
acquiring a copy of the manuscript, is it also available through the NY Public Library?
Thanks, George Halstead

Among marriage registrations for 1785 are three marriages which have no dates attached, but fall between a marriage on 26 Apr 1785 and 27 May 1785. One of those three marriages is:
(no banns or Amos Halsted (no witnesses of Clifton Park
wedding. dates) Martha Shepherd named) of Clifton Park
From the section of the transcribed ledger for 1790:
banns Feb. 24 John Teerpenning Jr. (no witnesses of Clifton Park
marr. Mar. 4 Julianna Halsted named) of Clifton Park
These are the only two marriage entries indexed for "Halstead, Halsted, etc."
There were no entries for the surname Teed in the index.
Even though no other Halsteads appeared in the index, I read through all of the marriages between 1750 and 1765 in this book, in hopes of finding one of the mysterious Halstead/ Teed weddings. No luck!
