  • Notes
    • In 1747 he accompanied John Woolman through Connecticut when Woolman was on a religious visit to New England. In his journal, John woolman writes of this friend, Amos: "My beloved Companion and I belonged to one meeting, came forth in the ministry near the same time, and were inwardly united in the work. He was about thirteen years older than I, bore the heaviest burden, and was an instrument of the greatest use."

His will was dated 8 January 1749/1750, proved 11 April, 1750.

Amos and Amey Powell were most likely twins, although his date of birth is given as 9 July 1700, and her date of birth is given as 5 Nov 1700 and 9 Nov 1700 in another database. These dates of birth are too close together to realistically be different pregnancies. I think in this instance, as with the information on the sisters, Mary and Deborah, who died in infancy, that the problem relates to the interpretation of dates scrawled in ancient records. 24 Jan 00 QLE
