Notes |
-
"Hicks lived south side of the plains," meaning Jerusalem. Records of the
Town of Hempstead show "1740 Hicks Seaman chosen one of the Surveyors or
Overseers of High Ways."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Davis in
"Westchester Patriarchs" notes that Hicks Seaman moved to Croton by 1764;
and there is a registered earmark [for cattle] 12 Mar 1750 in Northcastle
[Westchester, NY]. [p. 212]
