  • Notes

    • Samuel Murray Seaman married Sarah Smith of Elizabethtown [Nova Scotia].
Sam was a farmer in Chantry, Ontario, Canada. In 1804 he was fined for
selling liquor without a license - the same offense that had gotten his
father into trouble. Both he and his brother, Smith, volunteered to join
the British forces in the War of 1812. Sam was a Sergeant in the militia.
He died from wounds received while on garrison duty at Gananoque, (one of
the Thousand Islands near the site of old Fort Frontenac) - a battle in
which the British were defeated. Sam's death left Sarah with their family
      of six children.
