  A power of attorney dated 19 Nov 1756 from Benjamin Treadwell of Great Neck, Long Island, Surgeon, to his father stated; "Whereas I the said Benjamin Tredwell (sic) Junior am bound on a Privateering Voyage against the French on the Ship called the Hercules, commanded by Cap' Sam'l Bayard in the Character of Surgeon......
