Mrs. Adaline Tatum Passes Away
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Nora Springs for Mrs. Adaline Tatum at the Methodist church, conducted by the Reverend HA Crumb with burial at Marble Rock in Hillside Cemetery. Adaline Halstead was born on March 19, 1850, at Niles, Michigan, coming to Marble Rock with her parents at the age of four, where she grew to womanhood.
She was married March 29, 1866 to James Tatum. To this union five children were born. Of these only George Tatum, Mason City, survives.
In 1883 they moved to Ocheyedan. She was a member of the Methodist church. Her husband died in 1902 and since then she lived at the Moses Tatum home.
Mrs. Tatum died Tuesday evening, after an illness of more than two years. She leaves her son, George, grandchildren, Mrs Harvey Hoblit, Rockford; Belva Timmons, Sanborn and three great-grandchildren, Frances, Irma and Ona Hoblit.
Mrs. Tatum spent her childhood days in Marble Rock. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Halstead, early pioneers of Marble Rock. Their home was in the north part of town, where the Volney Nash home now stands.
