Bonnie Schmer
TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Funeral services for Bonnie Schmer, 60, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 29, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morrill, with Pastor Jon Sollberger officiating. The casket will be closed. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. Bonnie went to be with her Lord following a courageous battle with cancer on April 25, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center.
Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Morrill, the daughter of John and Thiel Legband. She spent her childhood in Morrill, where she received her education in the Morrill Public Schools, graduating in 1962. On July 8, 1962, she married Frank Flock. The couple moved to Laramie, Wyo., where Bonnie worked for the University of Wyoming while Frank continued his education. Several years later they moved back to Morrill and Bonnie worked at the First National Bank for a time before the couple started a farming and restoration business. They resided at their farm until the death of Frank in November 1993.
On July 6, 1995, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill, Bonnie married Harvey Schmer of Torrington. The couple enjoyed traveling together to Europe, Alaska, Mexico and throughout the United States. Bonnie pursued her career in real estate working for Frontier Realty until 1999, when she became co-owner of Premier Properties. She served as president of the Platte Valley board of Realtors for two years, and she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey; her parents, John and Thiel Legband of Scottsbluff; stepsons, Tearle Schmer and his wife Barbara of Mitchell and Kelly Schmer and his wife Susan of Lingle, Wyo.; step-grandchildren, Marty and Ann Schmer and Tera Schmer, all of Lincoln, Denise Schmer of Twin Falls, Idaho, Dustin Schmer of Laramie, Wyo., and Dylan and Delaney Schmer of Lingle, Wyo.; sisters and their husbands, Carolyn and Melvin Groskopf of Morrill, Kristen and Leo Moore of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Janelle and Mark Williams of Fort Collins, Colo.; mother-in-law, Winnie Flock of Morrill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her first husband, Frank, Bonnie's brother, John Robert, and her grandparents preceded her in death.
