Mr. Halstead came from Penn. to Wis. when quite a young man and settled in Oregon [Madison County, Wisc] from which place he moved here several years since and was married to Miss Julia Powers whom he leaves with four children to mourn their sad loss of a kind, industrious husband and father. They have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in this their sad bereavement. The funeral will be held at the house on North Madison Street 10 o'clock Wednesday morning under the auspices of the G.A.R. Rev. J. Scholfield officiating clergyman. All members of the G.A.R. are requested to meet at their hall at 9 o'clock a.m. Regards, John A. Potter and Son, records, Alonzo died of asthma.)" Gary, I am not related to the Halsteads, but I do historic research on Evansville. There were other Halsteads living in Evansville in 1910-1925. William H. Halstead was a photographer. The address is listed as 44-46 North Madison Street in an advertisement in 1910. I suspect that is not a current day address, as the addresses changed a few years later. Here are some brief articles from the Evansville Review from this period. Halstead is putting on a needed addition to his store on Madison Street. It is two story in height and 16 x 46 floor space. Mr. Halstead handles a lot of goods and it is his purpose to have plenty of room in which to display them. Little by little improvements of one kind or another are being made and in this way the city is making substantial and steady growth. June 30, 1910, Evansville Review William Halstead is painting his store and photograph gallery on North Madison Street. August 3, 1911, Evansville Review Mr. and Mrs. William Halstead are occupying their new residence on North Madison Street March 1, 1911, Evansville Review Mr. and Mrs. Al Halstead moved Saturday from the Geo. Halstead residence on North Madison Street, into their own home on Franklin Street.
