He settled as a farmer in East Middletown on lands which ha d belonged to his grandfather and was a higly respected cit izen. He was one of the selectment of Middletown in 1729-3 5-44-45 and 46, and was a justice of the peace. He was cho sed a decon of the Church in East Middletown, now the Firs t Church in Portland, Jan. 22 1725.
