Notes |
- George Ludwig Sanner landed at the Port of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Coun ty, Pennsylvania on September 19, 1749 on the Ship "Patience", Captain Hu gh Sleel, from Rotterdam, but last from Cowes in England.
On the same day he did take the usual qualifications to the Governmen t. By the list 137, Freights 270, from the Palatinate and Ducy of Wirten burg. 16th on the list was George Ludwig Sanner.
It is unknown if he came to the America's with a wife and this will ha ve to be researched further to substantiate the record on this ancesto r. We have found in church records that his wife was with him in Philade lphia as she was listed on the baptisms for the first two children. C an we assume from this that four (4) known children were all born in Phil adelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. This will also require furt her research.
Where this family finally settled is uncertain, as this writer has not be en able to uncover any solid documentation as to land records, death recor ds, etc. It is known that he was a barber in Philadelphia as was list ed on the tax records as having that occupation. He was also in Chest er County, Pennsylvania for a period of time, but have been unable to loca te him after that. He supposedly owned land in Chester County and w as a farmer.
According to the book, "THE SANNER FAMILY IN THE U.S.A." his estate was se ttled by his son, Michael Sanner, Sr. but it gives no dates or addition al information. This writer is assuming that there was some confusion a nd that the Ludwig Sanner estate that was settled was indeed the esta te of his brother Ludwig Sanner and not his Father.

A trip was made to Westchester, Chester County, Pennsylvania about 19 Sept ember 2000 in search of land records for George Ludwig Sanner. To my dis appointment none was found nor was he found on any census in that Count y. If, he owned land in Chester County, Pennsylvania it would almost ha ve to have been an unrecorded deed and therefore it is not possible to kn ow for certain that he did in fact own land there.
The search for the where abouts of this man and his family will contin ue to be a works in progress.
