- In the 1870 census for Raritan Twp, Monmouth Co, NJ we find Wm A Coe [age 16] living at home with his parents, and a Catherine Brown [age 12 - b. NJ] as a domestic servant for Asher and Mary Collins [an elderly couple ages 59 & 60] and their 30 year old son Sidney B. - - - is this Catherine Brown the one reported as Wm A Coe's wife who died 25 Feb 1872? Curiously there is no mention of Wm as a widower in the 1880 census, in fact he is shown as "Single"...more research is certainly warranted before accepting this marriage as a sure thing. Forest Smith responds: "Gary - Hope this works and you can see what I have on this family: According to the Robert Coe, Puritan; page 165. He was married to Catherine Brown, of John Brown and is said to have two other wives and a daughter Mildred. Mildred belongs to wife number two according to 1900 census. Probably Catherine B. died in child birth. I did not look for John Brown family in the 1870 census. I would guess that they were married about abt 1871. Also I did not follow William after the 1900 census. - Forest"
