Halstead is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer. Mr. Halstead died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the Ruthven Community Care Center. He was 69. James Roger Halstead was born June 13, 1940, in Emmetsburg, the son of Thompson and Verie (Shott) Halstead. Jim was married to Grace Hall. Jim was a contractor and did construction work for many years. He also worked for Citgo Petroleum Corporation and did tank repair on oil refineries. Surviving are his children, Deb Halstead and Kimmberly Hurchel; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Duane of Plant City, FL; sisters, Darlene D. Stoermer of Gillett Grove, Sandra Buhsmann of Mallard and Ella Halstead of Emmetsburg; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Halstead was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, James Jr. and Kevin; and several sisters and brothers.
