Actress Nyree Dawn Porter left a divorce court in London "disappointed and sad" at the end of her 13 year marriage. She was granted a "quickie" uncontested divorce in the London Divorce Court by Judge Monier Williams on the grounds that she and her husband, Robin Halstead, a former actor, had lived apart for more than two years.2 Ngaire Dawn PORTER and Robin Bernard HALSTEAD were divorced on 25 November 1987 at London, England.2

Ngaire died on 10 April 2001 at London, England, at the age of 65.3

Appears in a newspaper article on on 19 April 2001 at at London NYREE DAWN PORTER
Nyree Dawn Porter , best known to television viewers for her portrayal of the glacial Irene in The Forsyte Saga , which gripped the nation every Sunday night in 1967 and was later seen by more than 200 million people worldwide , died suddenly on April 10 .
Porter was born on January 22, 1940 in New Zealand . She began her career as an actress with The New Zealand Players Trust and in 1959 , after winning a scholarship, she moved to Britain . She appeared in small parts in several West End plays and revues , including Look Who' s Here (Fortune) and Come Blow Your Horn (Prince of Wales) , but she first came to fame when she played the title role in the TV adaptation of Madame Bovary (BBC 2, 1964).
When offered the role of Irene in The Forsyte Saga in 1967 she had no idea how popular the series would be . The high-powered cast included Eric Porter , Kenneth More and Michael York and the programme made Porter an international star . When Eric Porter (no relation) as her husband Soames raped Irene, there was a national outcry and questions were even asked in parliament about marital rights. For her performance Porter received a Bafta Award.
She appeared in several other TV series, although never achieving the same success , including Never a Cross Word , David Copperfield and To Maddie With Love . Her first film appearance was in the Charlie Drake film The Cracksman (1963) and she had small roles in The House That Dripped Blood (1970) , From Beyond the Grave (1973) and others. In 1998 she was cast as Dame Margot Fonteyn in the controversial biopic Hilary and Jackie.
In the theatre she was still a considerable draw, not least because of her Forsyte Saga fame and classic ice maiden looks. At the National Theatre in 1990 she played two roles in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday In the Park with George and in 1991 she was cast as Aunt Julie in Hedda Gablcr at the Richmond Theatre . Sheridan Morley cast and directed her in the 1999 revival of Noel Coward's A Song at Twilight, a play loosely based on W Somerset Maugham.
At the time of her death she had been touring with Eric in Charley's Aunt to the West End. Alan Yentob, BBC's director of drama , said "Nyree Dawn Porter was one of the earliest stars of television drama . Her performances gripped a nation of viewers." In 1970 she was appointed OBE for her services to television.
Porter married twice, to the actor Bryon O'Leary, who died of an accidental overdose in 1970, and later to the actor Robin Halstead, with whom she had a daughter , Talya. They divorced in 1987. Her daughter survives her.2
