Harry died on 14 November 1944 at Netherlands at the age of 34. His address at the time was recorded as 25 Sutcliffe Street, Bury, Lancashire. He was a Lieutenant in the Esat Lancashire Regiment, died of his wounds and is commemorated on the Mierlo War Cemetery, Netherlands.4,5,6

Mr and Mrs. Halstead, of 25, Sutcliffe Street, Harle Syke, who last week received news that their son, Lieut. Harry Halstead, had been seriously wounded in the right shoulder on November 4th and was in hospital in Holland, have now been officially informed that he died on November 7th.
Lieut. Halstead, who was 34 and single, joined the Coldstream Guards in 1930, and served in Egypt before becoming a constable in the Bury Police Force four years later. Called up from the Reserve in December, 1939, he was commissioned in October of last year, and had been serving with the Royal Scots Regt. He joined the British Army of Liberation shortly after D-Dav.
The article has a picture of Harry.6 His estate was given Letters of Administration on 15 August 1945 at Llandudno, Conway, Wales. The estate was valued at £611 9s 4d.5

On: the 12th December her husband returned home drunk and turned them all out, threatening set the house on fire. Her husband had an Army pension of 28s per week and 8s. of that amount was for her and her two young children. She thought that he could pay her that 8s. and add another 7s to it, making 15s. in all.—The Chairman (Alderman White) said the Bench would grant her a maintenance order of 18s. per week —10s in addition to the pension award.3 Minnie Lilian HALSTEAD appeared on the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 in the household of Frank Greatrix HALL and Jane HALL at Station Road, Donnington, Lincolnshire, England.
