J. Dawe, of "Millbrook.” West Coker, Yeovil, Somerset. The Vicar, the Rev. R. E. Leigh, M.A., officiated, and the service was choral. Miss Lucy Gibbons, A.R.C.O. presided at the organ. Mr. W. B. Green (Churchwarden) acted as usher. The bride, who was given away by her father, and carried bouquet of white chrysanthemums and asparagus fern, looked charming in a gown of white marocain, with ornamental buckle at side, and veil kindly presented by Mrs. Fred Blake, of "Porthguarra.” Crofton Cliffe, Stubbington. The bridesmaids were the Misses Jean Graham (cousin the bride) and Beryl Wilkinson, who looked very dainty attired in Early Victorian hydrangea blue watered silk pannier dresses, trimmed with silver lace berthes and silk tlower poseis at side, and carried bouquets of apricot coloured chrysanthemums and Caucasian scabious. The best man was Mr. Edgar Sparrow. Mrs. Bernard Douglas, the mother of the bride, was attired in a gown of grey silk marocain, trimmed with lace, and black picture hat. Mrs. F. .J. Dawe. the bridegroom's mother, was attired in a gown of beige silk georgette, with an art green picture hat. The weather was ideal for the happy event, and many visitors from Somerset. Devon, and elsewhere together with many local residents, filled the church.
The bride parents, who have many friends, have resided in the district tor about 20 years, and are known and respected by all throughout the parish. At the close of the marriage ceremony the happy pair left the church to the strains of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. A reception was held afterwards at "Fairway." 45 guests being present. Later the happy couple left for their honeymoon which will be spent in London. The bride wore travelling costume of black marucain, trimmed with Oriental embroidery, and black picture hat and flowing veil.
