The Colne Road Methodist Church, Brierfield, was the scene of a. charming wedding last Monday, between Mr. Royd Burton Higgins, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Higgins, of 6 Sefton Street, and Miss Mary Agnes Halstead, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Landless Halstead, of 22 Every Street. Given away her father, the bride was attired in turquoise blue velvet, with hat and shoes to match. She carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and hyacinths, and was attended by Miss Ethel Halstead (sister of the bride), and Master Colin Bell (nephew of the bride). The bridesmaid wore a dress of pink georgette and lace, with cap and shoes to match, and carried bouquet of pink tulips. The tiny attendant was dressed in pale blue satin, and carried a blue prayer book. Mr. Tom Robinson (friend of the bridegroom) acted best man, and Mr. J.Bell (brother-in-law of the bride) was groomsman. Following the ceremony, conducted by the Rev. F. G. Bromiley, a reception was held at the home of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Higgins will take up residence 54 Bird Street. Both families are well-known in the district, Mr. A. Higgins for 22 years managing the Brierfield furnishing department of the Co-operative Society, and Mr. L. Halstead being popular employee at Reeds and Sons, Nelson.
