Robert died on 20 November 1873 at Tasmania, Australia, at the age of 49.

Appears in a newspaper article on on 25 November 1873 at at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, SUDDEN DEATH.
An inquest was held at Sidbury, St. Leonards, on Saturday, before Thomas Mason, Esq, Coroner, and a jury of seven, to enquire into the cause of death of Mr Robert Halsleud, who expired suddenly on Thursday last.
Eleanor Halstead deposed that the deceased was her husbaud, and that on Thursday last as he was sitting at the table eating his dinner, the spoon fell from his hands and he said " oh ! oh ! " He appeared to be fainting, and witness ran round, put her arm round him and threw some water in his face. He never spoke again, and made but one slight movement, though a looking glass placed to his mouth showed breath for half an hour afterwards. Deceased had been suffering from asthma for some years but was no worse than usual that day, neither had be complained of any illness on that day; he had been engaged in his usual employment till dinner time.
William Shaw deposed to having been sent for on the day in question by Mrs Halstead, he being the nearest neighbour, and to finding deceased in the condition described by last witness ; he then rode off for Dr. Mason. Dr. Mason deposed that he arrived at Sidbury about a quarter past 2 o'clock on Thursday last, and found the deceased, Robert Halstead, lying on a couch dead, but quite warm. Witness examined the body externally, and was of opinion that the deceased died from natural causes, and that there was no ground for thinking that he died from any other cause, but in the absence of a post mortem examination, he (Dr. Mason) could not say what the immediate disease was that occasioned death. He did not consider that there was any occasion whatever for a post mortem examination. He had attended deceased three years ago for an attack of suffocative bronchitis, and had prescribed for him on several occasions since for the same complaint. Death could not have arisen from his asthmatic complaint, and most probably proceeded from some earlier affection. Witness examined .the throat to see if there was any foreign substance there, from the result of eating, but there was none.
The jury returned a verdict of "death from natural causes."4

[From a Correspondent.]
The complimentary dinner to Mr. Robert Crocker Jenkins, on the occasion of his leaving the Sorell township for his old home at Wettenhall, Upper Carlton, was well attended on Thursday night, at the Working Men's Club, of which he is President. The Rev Mr Brammall occupiod the chair, and Mr. Allison the vice-chair. Among those present to do honour to Mr Jenkins were Messrs McPhie, Fitz simons, Hildyard, Peacock, Blackwood, Iles, Henwood, Rowe, Quinn, Riley, Gard, Phillips, Oldham
The dinner was supplied by Mr Bidgood, and was of a recherche kind, and reflected great credit upon him. How far the edibles were appreciated was best understood by the pleasure with which they were partaken of by all present
The Rev Mr Brammall, in a lengthened speech, spoke of the good qualities of Mr Jenkins both as President ot the Working Men's Club, and as a private individual. After reverting to the formation of the club, its decline, and revival, he concluded with a high eulogium both on Mr Jenkins and his family, which was loudly applauded
Mr McPhie also joined in expressing his meed of praise, and concluded with stating that few would have done the good Mr Jenkins had.
Mr Jenkins, in rising to return thanks for the reception given him that evening, said he felt proud of it. He had striven whilst in Sorell to do his best to advance the social position of those around him After some practicable suggestions, and returning thanks again for the terms in which he and his family were spoken of, he resumed his seat amidst great cheering
The Rev. Mr. Brammall again rose, and desired to say that it was incumbent upon them to thank their first President, Mr Allison, for his aid to the Club during his tenure of office
Mr Allison responded in thankful terms for their remembrance of him, he had done all the good he could. Circumstances, which he enumerated, prevented him from doing more (Great cheering) He then, in the absence of some one else, proposed a vote of thanks to the Chairman, whom he spoke of in high praise in connection with the Club
The Chairman briefly returned thanks
A dance succeeded in which all present enjoyed themselves thoroughly.3

Appears in a newspaper article on on 24 June 1895 at at Tasmania Obituary - A Sorell correspondent writes:-"An old identity in the person of Mr. Robert Crocker Jenkins has passed away from our midst. On the 5th instant he was at the public sale yards, apparently well, and only for the few days preceding his decease was he laid aside. The deceased gentleman was born at Castle Carey in Somersetshire in 1812, and emigrated to Van Diemen's Land, as it was then known, in 1835. He selected land at Buckland, where he resided for some years, but left there and came, to Sorell, and settled at Wettenhall, a spot well-known for many years for the hospitality extended to all coming under his friendly roof. He married in 1844 a daughter of the late Mr. John Halstead, of Whitelea, Sorell, and thus became con-nected with the leading families of the district. The late Mr. Henry Hinsby, of Hobart, was his fellow-passenger from England. Mr. Jenkins lived in Hobart tor a few years prior to 1886, but then settled down at his old home, from whence he only recently came to reside at Sorell. He leaves five sons and four daughters besides his widow. The first interview the writer had with the subject of these lines was in the days when wheat was conveyed from Prossers to the Coal River mill on the backs of Simpson's donkeys, a string of these animals often being brought past Runnymede. Mr. Jenkins was a thorough farmer and a most energetic poultry fancier, his mantelpiece being adorned with trophies won in the palmy days of the Poultry Society. He frequently said that he had only missed two of the exhibitions since the society was formed. He was also a warm supporter of the Southern Tasmanian Agricultural and Pastoral Association, having been a successful exhibitor in this also. Many years ago he had a seat for a short time at the Sorell Municipal Council. He was one of those who took some trouble to endeavour to acclimatise the pheasant and partridge at Wettenhall, but, like many others, failed in the effort. His funeral was largely attended, and it was remarked that there were more of the old friends of the deceased present than had been seen at a similar gathering for years past."4

Sandford hall is to be made more com fortable and attractive shortly by the addition of two dressing rooms and a refreshment room. Mr. Huxley is the successful tenderer. The present building is out of debt, and it is pleasing to note that the extra rooms are within a trifle of being subscribed for, thanks to the sur rounding districts and an energetic working committee A very pleasing func tion took place in the hall on Wednesday 12th inst. in the form of a social when about 70 turned up to do honour to Miss Amy Halstead, prior to her leaving the district for Hobart. Miss Halstead has been amongst us for nealy four years and has undoubtedly made many friends.
After a general round of games had been indulged in Mr G J Morrisby, on behalf of a number of ladies presented Miss Halstead with a gold brooch as a small token of remembrance.
Mr Morrisby spoke in eloquent terms of the ladies generally but Miss Halstead undoubtedly came in for a double share and it is quite evident that Mr Morrisby is one of the few men who give the fair sex the credit of being the better half of mankind.
Mr L May suitably responded on Miss Halstead's behalf who was visibly moved with all the good things said of her.
At this point supper was served : an hours dancing followed interspersed with a number of vocal and instrumental selec tions by the Misses Morrisby (3) and Dossitor : Messrs Richardson and Mor risby (3). The singing of Auld lang syne brought to a close a most pleasant evening.1

Obituary of John William ALLANBY: on 6 August 1931 at Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, THE LATE MR. ALLANBY
A COPPING PIONEER.

Our travelling correspondent writes:— A member of one of the best known and most highly respected families in Southern Tasmania, and a hardy, peerless pioneer of the Ragged Tier district of Copping, has recently passed away in the person of Mr. John William Allanby, of Woodlands, Copping, where he was born on May 9, 1857.
A man of strict integrity, industrious, and public spirited to the highest de-gree, and the synonym of all that is best in human nature, the late Mr. Allanby had endeared himself to all within a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, and his widely lamented death removes a true type of Tasmanian citizenship.
On August 27, 1890, the late Mr. Allanby was married to Miss Florence Sarah Halstead, of St. Leonards, and had as issue three sons and six daughters—John Roy, Leonard William (both of Copping), and Norman (Victoria), and Effie (Mrs. C. Murphy, Dunalley), Ruby (Mrs. J. Morrisby, Sandford), Lillie (Mrs. Mitchelmore), Nellie (Mrs. Gordon), Cissie (Mrs. S. C. Clifford, Bream Creek), and Amy (unmarried).
In the old days of municipal government the late Mr. Allanby was a repre-sentative for some years in the Sorell Road Trust, and when the new Local Government Act came into operation in 1907, he topped the poll for Bream Creek ward. After years of faithful service he was reluctantly compelled to retire from public life as councillor and justice of the peace, owing to ill-health. He achieved considerable success in the mixed farming pursuits he pursued all his life, dairying being one of the prin-cipal features. In his youthful days he was a keen exponent of cricket, and re-mained an ardent supporter of this fine old national pastime to the last. For 21 seasons consecutively his brother, Mr. C. S. Allanby, of Homedale, Copping, secured the batting average for the Bream Creek Club, of which the late Mr. Allanby's sons, Roy and Len ("Joe") are prominent members. Mrs. Hean, widow of the late Hon. A. Hean, of Glen Rae, Wattle Hill, is a sister of the deceased, whose descendants include 11 grandchildren.
The interment of the late Mr. Allanby in the Copping cemetery was very large-ly attended.5

Obituary of Christopher Smeaton ALLANBY: on 10 October 1935 at Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, OBITUARY
MR. C. S. ALLANBY
A COPPING PIONEER.
Mr. Christopher S. Allanby, J.P., of Homedale, Copping, a member of one of the best-known families in Southern Tasmania, and a hardy, peerless pioneer of the Ragged Tier district of Copping, died on Monday in his 75th year. The deceased was born at Woodlands, Copping, on November 13, 1860, the ancestral home adjoining Homedale, and he was destined to pass the whole of his well-spent life in that progressive mixed farming district in the Sorell municipality. Mr. Allanby achieved considerable success in the mixed farming pursuits, which he followed all his life, dairying being one of the principal features. His work in connection with the establishment of the Pembroke dairy factory at Bream Creek, in an official capacity, and otherwise, contri-buted largely to this successful enterprise, and his faith in the dairying industry never waned. In his youthful days he was a keen exponent of cric-ket, and remained an ardent supporter to the last. For 21 seasons consecutively he secured the batting average for the Bream Creek Club, a feat perhaps unexcelled in the annals of the game.
The deceased married Miss Mary Halstead, of St. Leonards, who survives him, together with three sons, Messrs. Christopher H., Douglas H. (both farmers of Copping), and Robert H. (school teacher, Triabunna). Mr. Claud Allanby, of Nabowla, is a brother of the late Mr. Allanby, and Mrs. Hean of Glen Rae, Wattle Hill, widow of Mr. A. Hean, who many years ago held Ministerial office in the State Government, is a sister.
The funeral of Mr. Allanby in the Copping cemetery yesterday afternoon was very largely attended.4 His estate was probated on 1 November 1935 at Tasmania, Australia..3
