In April last he left home following a disagreement, and had since sent her five weekly payments of 10s. Halstead asserted that he had been “put out of the house,” and declared that he was not prepared to return. Following his statement that he was not now working, evidence was given by P.C. Gittins that the employers of the respondent were annoyed that he had left work of his own accord, and that they expected him to return. The Chairman said they were satisfied there had been a failure to maintain, and granted an order for payment of 5s. weekly for the applicant and 10s. weekly for each of the two children.⁷
